Six weeks ago I started building an app. Not because I planned to but because I kept running into the same problems while combing through back-issue bins at comic stores and comic-cons across Western Canada while researching my upcoming book, The Crisis Companion (coming out this August).
I didn't have a good system for keeping track of what I owned. I didn't know what anything was worth. And I'd get home to file my comics and realize I'd bought duplicates or missed something I'd been hunting for, for months. So I built The Comic Locker—a comic-collecting app that solves all of these problems and more. Here are just some of its features:

Listen to it here! I talk about my upcoming book, The Crisis Companion from Twomorrows Publishing, and so much more!On Tuesday, March 17, I'm doing an interview with the fine folks at one of my favorite podcasts, Comic Geek Speak. Episode will drop on March 24. And don't forget my Monitor Tapes episode, which will drop on March 20.
This weekend I was a guest on The Monitor Tapes, a podcast devoted to Crisis on Infinite Earths, which is the subject of my new book, The Crisis Companion, coming out this summer from TwoMorrows Publishing. The episode will air on March 24. We'll be doing a soft launch of the book at the San Diego Comic Con, with the official release set for August 19, 2026, but you can pre-order it now!
A post just went up on 13th Dimension, where they called it "one of 2026’s most anticipated books on comics." No pressure at all! Coming out July 29, 2026. You can pre-order it here from TwoMorrows Publishing.
I've been working on this book for the past 18 months, but I've really been preparing to write it my entire life. Coming out July 29, 2026 from TwoMorrows Publishing. You can pre-order it here. From the publisher's website: In 1985, DC Comics launched the most ambitious crossover event in comics history: Crisis on Infinite Earths. Four decades later, filmmaker and lifelong comic book fan Kevin Miller unpacks the tangled web of continuity, creators, and corporate pressures that gave rise to this multiverse-shattering epic. The Crisis Companion is both a personal love letter to the series and a deep dive into its history, from the classic 1961 Gardner Fox "Flash of Two Worlds" story that introduced the concept of multiple Earths, through the annual Justice League/Justice Society team-ups that led to the complicated DC continuity that Crisis aimed to fix. This book features original interviews with Marv Wolfman, Paul Levitz, Jerry Ordway, Bob Greenberger, Mike DeCarlo, Peter Sanderson, Roy Thomas, Cary Bates, Dan Jurgens, Mike Gold, and others who helped shape the series and the DC Universe itself. It explores how Crisis transformed our perception of comics continuity, redefined superhero storytelling, and introduced the multiverse concept to mainstream culture. This richly layered volume includes a full-color gallery, and a detailed, issue-by-issue commentary and examines the event’s far-reaching consequences, from the rise of endless reboots to the dominance of event-driven publishing. Whether you’re a casual fan or a full-fledged “Crisisologist,” this is the definitive companion to one of the most influential comic book series ever published. I just realized it's been well over a year since I posted anything to my blog. It's been one of many casualties of my busy writing schedule.
While I'm not sure it's going to turn me into a prolific blogger, I'm happy to say I just turned in book 6 of the Game On series, which will be released this fall, and I'm doing a final edit of The Crisis Companion: From Flash of Two Worlds to Infinite Earths, my monumental book on the comic book maxi-series Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985). It includes a survey of how DC's multiverse was created, why the powers that be felt they needed do away with it through Crisis, a detailed commentary on the maxi series itself, and reflections on its legacy. I'm super excited about this book, which will be released by TwoMorrows Publishing in time for the 2026 San Diego Comic Con. And for the first time ever, I hope to be there in person to sign copies. As for what's next, I'm debating between four projects. One is a non-fiction book on storytelling that I've been developing for years while teaching on that very topic (and half of which is already written). Another is Cosmic Christmas, book 9 of the Milligan Creek series where the boys attempt to stage a Christmas play, with hilariously diastrous results. The third is Teeth, book 3 in my Uncanny Icons series about some glow-in-the-dark vampire teeth that accidentally resurrect the king of the undead. The final one is another non-fiction book about comic books, this one focusing on Alan Moore's legendary run on Swamp Thing. Before I embark on any of those projects, though, I'm going to take a short vacation in Hawaii with my oldest daughter. Some body surfing, snorkeling, hiking, loco moco, and a few poke bowls should help clear my brain well enough to determine my next steps. |
